So much for an April baby
Dexter still hasn't dropped down and I am still only a couple cm dilated at today's checkup. I have another appointment for next Monday, May 4th. If he hasn't come by then we need to decide if I want to wait it out, have a medical induction or have a planned C-section. There are a lot of pros and cons to each decision so I guess that's what I can think about on my endless walks over the next few days. I dont know, I am pretty bummed that I will still be pregnant for another week or so most likely. I have felt all along that I would end up with a c-section and that Dexter would be a big baby so it might end up being that way. I would miss the whole drama of racing to the hospital in labor and contractions and all that but would also have the mental calmness benefit of knowing exactly when Dex would be born and could go in with less worry.
Oh and I am offically Obese according to Wii Fit - grumble grumble. What a fun day

I must comment.
An induction will automatically put your chance of C-section at 50%. Please don't kick him out of his womb before he is ready.
C-Sections are a very long and difficult recovery and put future pregnancies at risk.
Dexter will not grow larger than you could possibly birth. Your body is made to birth him.
Finally, you are not officially and critically over*due* until 14 days past *due* date. Especially if he is in no distress.
Trust yourself. Trust your baby. You and he will feel SOOO much better if you do this vaginally.
You can DO THIS!!
Nina: 7lbs 3oz. 3hours of pushing
Ewan: 9lbs 2oz. Only 30min of pushing. So size is not indication of what the body can do.
After my water broke (both with Nina and Ewan), I had to still be induced. And the labors were very different. But neither ended up in a C-section.
So I agree with Amanda. Trust yourself. Do what feels natural and what you're comfortable with. Dilation is only an indication of where you are now, and not where you'll be in a couple of hours. And May babies are good babies too! Dexter's just not ready to share himself with the rest of the world yet. He's quite content only sharing himself with you!

Babies have a habit of coming out when they're darn good and ready. Dan was 2 weeks late, so was Deb. The worst part was when people would say "are you still pregnant?"
Dear Ali,
You are a smart woman and as you have made good decisions all along we are sure you will do what is best for your health and your baby's health now. What ever you decide Shane and I support you 100%.
Rejoicing with you, Aunt Beth & Shane
Also, the average first time mom will go 8 days over her *due*date if unassisted. :)
Keep walking and resting. Practice your squats and deep breathing.
Have a bunch of sex and eat spicy foods. :)
Enjoy! xoxo
Dex will march to his own drum!
Get out your drum set and bang away.
Racing to the hospital in labor is not nearly as much goofy good fun as it seems on all the sitcoms and in the romantic comedies. In fact, it's pretty much the opposite of fun, plus you have to clean the car seat afterwards. . .
If you choose induction, please consider at least a light epidural as well - I've heard that pitocin contractions are not as managable as "natural" contractions.
One way or the other, you will get Dexter out - very few kids take their SATs in-utero these days. . .
Good luck!
