Today mommy and daddy got all dressed up and went to dinner with daddy's division.  I got to stay home with my friends Shawn and Tyler and play.

Football

We thought we would get some kicking practice in for Dexter.  He will be the UF punter in 2026 so its never too early to start practicing.

How Daddy saved me $73,456 or more

I love my Daddy sooo much.  Yesterday he really made me happy by signing up for the Post 9/11 GI Bill.  This GI Bill is like the older one, but so much better.  If you don't use it yourself you can transfer it to your children!  And since Daddy already has his PhD he said I could have it!  This GI Bill will pay for 36 months of school (that is 4 years without summers) full tuition and fees at the max state school rate for the state you live in, plus it pays you a housing allowance like I was an E-5 rank (mid level enlisted troop rank) and $1000 a year for books. All daddy has to do is commit to 4 years of service, but since he is 7 years in and wants to do at least 20 I don't think that is a problem!

Doing some basic math using 2011-2012 University of Florida tuition rates that would be $22,800 in tuition, $4000 in books and $46,656 in housing allowance for living in Gainesville.  Add it all up and Daddy has saved me $73,456 (before tuition increases which will make it even more!)

Mommy is even more happy since she is now moving half the money she was saving for my college into mommy and daddy's retirement account instead.  She will still save some for me in case it takes me more than 4 years to graduate or I need it for graduate school.

Thanks Mommy and Daddy!

Art

My favorite part of coloring is putting tape on my paper to hold it on the table.

My typical day

Not much going on here in Albuquerque.  Just thought I would share with you my typical weekday.  Wake up around 6am and have breakfast with mommy while watching Handy Manny, go to school and have second breakfast then outside play then lunch.  After lunch I have naptime followed by snacktime and then arts and crafts then mommy or daddy pick up me.  I come home and we have dinner, followed by another Handy Manny show then dog walking then I play with my trucks or iPad.  Then I have bathtime with daddy, followed by storytime and then finally bedtime between 7-7:30.  It is a pretty action packed day.

TV Zombie

Something very odd happened a week ago.  Dexter went from watching about 10 minutes of TV at a time to all the sudden watching it for hours.  He wants to watch Handy Manny all the time and he has now watched 3 full movies (Curious George, Bolt and Kung Fu Panda).

Now that he is so interested in TV I guess we need to figure out what a daily limit should be so he can continue to enjoy playing outside and with his books and puzzles also.

Dentist Trip

Today I visited my Dentist for my 2 year checkup.  I now have 14 teeth out of a possible 20 baby teeth.  I only had 2 teeth a year ago so I think I have made great progress this year growing teeth!  My teeth are healthy and clean, so I guess my obsessive tooth brushing has paid off.

I am not sure who uses the iPad more, but it gets good use in our house.

Skinned Knees

Now that it is summer and I wear shorts everyday it was just a matter of time before I got skinned knees. I was running on the walking path around Hardin Field, a half mile path in the center of the base, and fell down. It was bleeding a little so I got to go home and take a bath and help wash my knees. It was all very fun.

Getting Fit

I am back to working out again now that the summer is upon us and its nice to get outside again.  In addition to my triathlon training I am mixing in some Wii Active 2 workouts.  They are a nice balance of calisthenics and cardio for days I cant make it to the base gym after work.  Here is a video of Dexter and I working out. :)

Sleep

Just reading one of my bedtime books.  These last few days I have been super tired and sleeping solid from 7:30pm to 7:15am when mommy wakes me up to go to school.   This includes a 90-120 minute nap in the afternoon.  Perhaps I am growing again.

I miss my Nana

This morning Dexter saw an airplane and then for the next few hours was obsessed with two words: nana and airplane.   He was pretty sure any airplane we saw was either bringing Nana to him or we should get on it to return to Florida to see Nana.    The video also shows him saying "hand" which is his way of asking us to follow him or open a door for him.  He doesn't say "airplane" but he signs it and says some variation of the noise an airplane makes when flying over.

Miss you nana (and grandfather too, your name is just too hard to say right now)

Breaking News:  Handy Manny is now my favorite show instead of Super Why.
In other news, I still love CapriSun drinks.
