5 year old checkup

Last week I had my 5 year old checkup.  I got changed into a paper gown and a doctor listened to my lungs & heart, looked inside my ears, eyes and mouth and felt around my tummy and neck.  I took a vision test and even did lab work.    The doctor said I was very healthy but a little on the smaller side for my weight.  My height of 42.75 inches is right at the 50% for 5 year old boys, but my weight, 38.2 lbs, for my height is only in the 20% range  Because my weight was low for my height he ran lab tests - My H&H was right at the bottom of the normal range, all my electrolytes and thyroid tests were normal.  I even had to give them pee and poop in a cup - and that came back normal as well!  So the doctor wants me to eat more iron rich foods and eat as much food as I want.   I think if he saw my tall and skinny daddy he wouldn't have worried so much about my weight.

At the end of all this Dr. Yazdani said I am a healthy boy and can start Kindergarten next year.  Yea!

Play Ball!

Today kicked off my T-ball season.  We have been practicing for three weeks but now we are starting to have games as well.  My team is the Thresher Sharks.  My coaches are Jon, Mike and Jeremy.  Today the baseball league had an opening ceremony party with the high school marching band, "Uncle Slam" the Potomac Nationals AAA team mascot and a parade of players (over 800 of us!).  They also collected food for the local food pantry and old baseball equipment for a mission trip to South America.  The parade was fun and then we played our game against the Hot Rods.  We won the game because we actually made 2 outs on defense.    T-ball is going pretty well, much better than the dreaded soccer.  Today I played second base twice and outfield once.  At second I actually got the ball a couple times and threw it to first.

Happy Early Earth Day!

This land is my land, this land is your land.  Let's work together, to make it better.  To tall green forests, and clear blue waters. This land depends on you and me!

I hope you all have a wonderful Earth Day on Tuesday.  We were working hard in the garden again this weekend.  We planted some small flowers around were the rose buses were put in last weekend.  We also planted a yellow Forsythia tree and installed our 3rd rain barrel.  The 2 rain barrels in the front of the house are hooked to soaker hoses that are weaved around all the plants.

The 3 fruit trees we planted last winter are actually doing well.  Our peach tree has tons of flowers on it and our red apple tree is starting to get green.  Not sure if the yellow apple tree made it though the winter or not yet, it has a couple little buds on it but not much.

Major Promotion

Here are some photo's from Dan's Major promotion ceremony.  It took a couple weeks to have the photos declassified so Dan could bring them home :)

Hi there

The last week has been a lot of Lego play and baseball practice.  I am on a team called the Thresher Sharks.  We have 3 weeks of practices and then we start having games.  We will play at least twice a week and some weeks we even have three games or practices.  This weekend was also very nice outside so we started working on the front garden.  We ripped out some grass and are planting rose bushes. Most of the rose bushes are just thorny sticks right now, but they assure us they will grow :)

School Days

This week at Montessori school we could bring a parent to school for an hour and show them around the classroom to see things we do during the mornings. Most of what I wanted to show mommy was related to counting or puzzles. We also work on handwriting, arts, science and music all the time.
