Volunteering

We woke up super early today and drove into D.C. to clean the Koran war memorial.  Daddy is trying to volunteer more so we thought this would be a good family volunteering activity.  When I was a little kid I was obsessed with brooms and loved to play with them, so this was right up my alley.  We (and around 20 other people) scrubbed the walkway, the wall, the fountain and the solider statues.   After we volunteered we went to the George Mason and Thomas Jefferson memorials and then back home.

Lego

It has been a week of non-stop Lego action here with grandfather!  We have built so many new structures and have had so many Lego minifigure battles!  I got my 2nd Lego set from Pley (the Lego rental company), it was a Star Wars set and it is awesome!  I am playing with it until Tuesday and then I will mail it back and get the next one on my list. 

Luray Caverns

Yesterday me, mommy and grandfather traveled to the Luray Caverns to explore "the largest and most popular caverns in the East".   It was awesome!  It was over a mile of tunnels through beautiful caverns.  The pictures didnt come out well because of the weird lighting down below (16 floors below the surface of the earth). 

After taking the tour of the cavern we went gem sluicing where I discovered lots of cool gem and minerals.

It was a fun trip and I am having a blast playing with grandfather all day on the days where mommy and daddy are at work!

Final day of Preschool!

Today at Montessori of Gainesville we had an end of summer party!   A puppet lady came and did a puppet show for all the kids and parents and then we had pizza and cleaned out our cubbies.  We have a one week vacation and then kindergarten will start on September 2nd.  I am staying at Monessori for kindergarten.  My teachers will be Ms. Kyou-Bin and Ms. Shahla again from last year, plus Ms. Robin a new teacher to the school.    I can't wait!

Pley

Dexter just loves to build Lego sets.  But Lego's can get expensive quick!  So last week we signed up for Pley  Pley is similar to netflix - you build up a list of sets you want, they mail you one, you play with it and when your done you mail it back and they send you the next one on the list.   Our first creation is the seaside house - which is a pretty awesome house I would actually like to live in!  Once we are done we will mail it back and then the next set on our list will arrive.   I think this will be a good way to keep building interesting things without getting completely overloaded with Lego.

Florida Trip

We just returned from Florida to celebrate Nana's 70th birthday and her retirement from Shands.   We had a great time and here are some of the photos from the week.  We also had a blast on our daytrip to Legoland!
