M

This week is brought to you by the letter "M"
As in man, mouse, mop, moth, moose, mattress, mittens, mirror and mother
or clam, lamb, plum, team, ice cream, mushroom, comb, broom and jam

M is a fun word.  If you eat something yummy you can say "mmmm" or you can watch fireworks that go "Boom!"

Our book this week was "Are you my mother?" (show above)

An update on our bus adventure.  I rode the correct bus to and from daycare today.  The bus was about 15minutes late dropping us off at class so things still are not running smooth, perhaps a few more phone calls and a few more times of mommy and daddy following the bus will help.

Bus Drama

Here is Dan following Dexter in the school bus to and from daycare (1-2 mile trip)

Not a good start to the school bus.  He got to speech class ok after Dan had to go into school and remind them that Dexter was riding the bus today with the 2 other kids that go to speech class.  They were already in line but Dexter was still in his room.  But he got on the bus and it made a direct line to the elementary school only stopping once at the other base daycare.

Going home was a whole other story.  His bus he is assigned to 121 (the same one he rode that morning) didn't have him on the list but this other bus that pulled up did.  So instead of going on the bus with his 2 schoolmates he got on the other bus.  That bus then for the next hour drove around Albuquerque dropping off a whole bus load of elementary kids, mind you the area around base is very ghetto until it eventually dropped him back at daycare (the other 2 kids were back for over 40minutes at that point).

Thank goodness Dan was following the bus because who knows what might have happened otherwise.  Dan is going to call the bus company tomorrow and see what the problem is and will follow the bus again Thursday to see what is happening.

From Dexter's point of view he got to ride a school bus and had a great time....

Line Up!

Here we are lined up holding our rope to go into Speech class.  We are in room P19.  There are 5 portables next to the Elementary School for preschool classes & head start programs.  There is a playground in the middle of the portables which was very tempting to go play on but I was good and lined up.

I am 2nd in line (yellow shirt), note they stuck a girl into our class.  We now have 8 boys and 1 girl, Natalia - she is 5.

My school is just as fancy as my cousin Cole's elementary school pictured above....Hahaha!
I like New Mexico, but I am glad we will live in Virgina when I start elementary school for real or else I would be going to some expensive private school.

P

Today was my first day of speech class at Kirtland Elementary School.  It was awesome!

I sang songs, blew bubbles, painted pink pigs, ate popcorn and drank pop, read "Pigs a Plenty, Pigs Galore" and practiced lots of words that start with the letter P.  This week the letter is P. Pencil, Pelican, Party, Pup, Pig, Pals, Pickles, Pop, Penguin, Penny and Pony

Each week for eight weeks we are going to focus on a letter or sound.  Tuesdays we practice words that start with the letter and Thursdays we practice words that end with the letter.

There are eight boys in my classroom and two teachers - Sharon and Annie

The only thing that could have made today better would be riding the school bus.  I can't do that until next week

Organized Bath Activities

I do my own baths now. Before I start the water, I line up everything I might need: bodywash, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, washcloth.   Then when I am done I get out, dry off and put on my pajamas.  I am so independent.

Note the ice cream on my face - more success pooping on the potty today :)

Elementary School?

I am only 3 years old but starting next week I am going to Elementary School!
As part of my speech therapy I get to leave baby school every tuesday and thursday from 8:45-10:45, get on a little school bus and travel down the street to Kirtland Elementary School (go Eagles!)  There I will be working with some other kids in an "intensive articulation program".  The program is 8 weeks on, 8 weeks off and then 8 weeks on again.  After that I presume I graduate and move on to college.

My speech is getting better and better each day but I still need a lot of help to be understood.  I am sure this will help.  If not at least I get to ride a school bus twice a week, my friends at baby school will be so jealous.

Ice Cream Rewards

So I have been pee potty trained since March but poop in the potty is still really hard for me at home.  Today I went poop in the potty and mommy gave me a special ice cream reward!  I could get used to this.

Caillou addict

The spare bedroom/exercise room is now my favorite room.  It has a TV with only one show on the DVR - Caillou!  Whenever I want I can go in there and play my favorite show.  When I am not watching TV I also like to jump on the balls or row.

Happy Birthday Nana!   Remember this picture back when I was a baby?  We both were so young then.

Puzzleboy

It has been a while since I showed off my jigsaw puzzle skills.  Lately I would much rather watch Caillou on TV for hours then do puzzles or read books, but once you remind me they are there I will knock out all six of my big puzzles without any help.

Pilot Training

Yesterday I wanted to be a garbage man, today a helicopter pilot.  Lucky for me it was family day here on base and there were several helicopters on Hardin Field for me to try out.  I played in the pilot seat for over an hour today (taking turns with other kids when I had too)  Maybe when I grow up I will be an Air Force pilot!

Go Away

Hard to tell from this simile, but I am saying "Go Away, Please!"  This is my new favorite thing to tell mommy or daddy.  Sometimes it is just "go away" followed quickly by "please go away" so they know I am still being nice.
