How Daddy saved me $73,456 or more
I love my Daddy sooo much. Yesterday he really made me happy by signing up for the Post 9/11 GI Bill. This GI Bill is like the older one, but so much better. If you don't use it yourself you can transfer it to your children! And since Daddy already has his PhD he said I could have it! This GI Bill will pay for 36 months of school (that is 4 years without summers) full tuition and fees at the max state school rate for the state you live in, plus it pays you a housing allowance like I was an E-5 rank (mid level enlisted troop rank) and $1000 a year for books. All daddy has to do is commit to 4 years of service, but since he is 7 years in and wants to do at least 20 I don't think that is a problem!
Doing some basic math using 2011-2012 University of Florida tuition rates that would be $22,800 in tuition, $4000 in books and $46,656 in housing allowance for living in Gainesville. Add it all up and Daddy has saved me $73,456 (before tuition increases which will make it even more!)
Mommy is even more happy since she is now moving half the money she was saving for my college into mommy and daddy's retirement account instead. She will still save some for me in case it takes me more than 4 years to graduate or I need it for graduate school.
Thanks Mommy and Daddy!

Your daddy was very smart to join the Air Force! xoxonanaxoxo
We are so happy that daddy and mommy are so smart. One year at Harvard with a sportscar that should about cover it. Hugs, Grandfather
Sounds like a great plan! Set your sights high, Yale, Princeton, etc.
