Cub Scouts

Daddy and I have joined the cub scouts.  I am in the Tiger Den and so far I love it.  The den meetings are fun and the camping trip was tons of fun as well.  I went for a hike, learned how to tie some knots and played for hours with my new friends.  Everyone in the cub scouts goes to Glenkirk Elementary so now I know kids in all the grade levels.

We have another hike this Sunday if the weather is good.  Can't wait!

International Day!

Every year my school, Montessori of Gainesville, has an International Day celebration.  All the classes present songs, dances and facts about their country. My class had South Korea.

South Korea is in Asia.  The national flower of South Korea is the Rose of Sharon.  The national sport of South Korea is Taekwondo.  The flag of South Korea is white with a red and blue circle in the middle and a black trigam in each corner.  The flag represents peace, balance and harmony.

Happy Birthday to me!

This was a weird birthday - The week before my birthday we went to Disneyworld and St. Augustine which was awesome!  Then the weekend right before my birthday I spent the weekend with Gram and my cousins.  Then daddy left for a week and me and mom have been hanging out at home.  We did have a birthday celebration at school and then eat chick-fil-a on my birthday night.  Overall a fun couple weeks and I feel much older now that I am 6!

I also got a new cruiser bike a few weeks ago which I like and have gotten very good at balancing after just a few days of practice. Much easier than a bike with pedals for some reason.

Abe Lincoln Presentation

Today was the big presentation day at Kindergarten.  The 4 Kindergarten kids in my class each gave a minute or two speech to the entire school about our assigned president.  I went first and I did really well.  It is hard to hear me because I spoke quietly but I covered all the points Ms. Kyou-Bin wanted me to talk about and I needed just a little bit of assistance from her.

Trains, Bowling and Nana

Saturday was a super busy day here in Virginia.  I had to say goodbye to Nana after she visited with us all month, I built a LEGO train set and I bowled for the first time.

Moveable Alphabet

At my school I practice sounding out words and spelling small words using something called "moveable alphabet".  At school we have objects and colored letters to help sound out words and today I practiced this with one of my home workbooks.  I am getting good at sounding out words and I can't wait until I can read more!

Today the final cousin turned 5.  Now every cousin is 5! (Plus old man Cole is soon to be 7)

Happy Early Earth Day!

I hope you all have a wonderful Earth Day on Tuesday.  We were working hard in the garden again this weekend.  We planted some small flowers around were the rose buses were put in last weekend.  We also planted a yellow Forsythia tree and installed our 3rd rain barrel.  The 2 rain barrels in the front of the house are hooked to soaker hoses that are weaved around all the plants. 

The 3 fruit trees we planted last winter are actually doing well.  Our peach tree has tons of flowers on it and our red apple tree is starting to get green.  Not sure if the yellow apple tree made it though the winter or not yet, it has a couple little buds on it but not much.

 Next at school we are going to start learning about Presidents.  I already know all about George Washington from my trip to Mount Vernon last month.  Now I need to learn about the others.

Today I learned about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at school.  He had a dream that all people would be friends.  I have a dream to be magic (harry potter) and a dream to be a superhero (batman).

The actual game video - normally you only get to run one base at a time but I was up last so I got to run all the bases and get a home run!!

I really like T-Ball and will play it again next year. However, my next sport will be soccer this fall in Virginia.

One week down, one week to go of swim class.  Of the four lessons, I have done 1 complete class, 1/4 of another class and nothing in 2 classes.  The one day I went in the water and listened to the teacher was the nicest day outside - sun shinning and warm.  The other 3 classes were overcast and chilly (the water is heated, but still!).

I am not sure why I don't like class - perhaps I hate structure and listening to teachers?  We arrive 20 minutes before starts and I play nonstop in the water.  Doing slides, practicing kicking, walking all around the 2-3 feet deep pool - but as soon as the teachers say class is starting and get on the wall for class I get out and tell mommy I am done and I dont want to do it.  She has tried everything to get me in the water again - even going to the doughnut store or ice cream store as a reward but I refuse. 
Perhaps next week will be better?

Virginia Home update!

Holy cow!  Our house is moving along so fast!  It will be done in 77 days.    I will be in Virgina on the 21st for 5 days to do home inspections and check the progress.  Our estimated close date is May 31st.

We are all so excited!

Gymnastics

Today was my first Gymnastics class.  My teacher was Mr. Derek and my class, named Funny Bugs, had all 3-4 year old kids.  It was tons of fun.  I got to run all around and learn how to walk on balance beams and flip on uneven bars.  Running and jumping are two of my favorite things to do, so this class was perfect.  I have gymnastics class every Saturday at 11am until we move to Virginia.
