Happy New Year!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday season. Santa put me on the nice list again (7 years in a row!!) and gave me the giant dinosaur stuffed animal I asked for - plus a few other animals!
Starting this week I have a new teacher at school. So long Mrs. Salley and hello Mrs. Harris! I met her before winter break started and she seems nice, I can't wait to get back to school and rock out the rest of 2nd grade!

Happy New Years!
This year has started much like last year ended - with jigsaw puzzles! This one was very hard and Mommy ended up doing most of it. I made some resolutions at school - to clean my house, help others and share my toys! I should be able to do all those things since we are moving in March. We are going through all our things to see what we will keep or give to others.

Nana's visit
Then Nana left to go back home and I got sick. I know I look healthy in this photo but I had a fever around 102F for 6 days and finally got diagnosed with pneumonia and put on antibiotics. I should feel ready to go back to school on Tuesday after the holiday.
I did get my first interim report card in the mail yesterday. I am meeting all the objectives of 1st grade (reading, writing, speaking, math, social studies, science, listening, art, PE, Music, work habits and conduct) The only one I did not met was handwriting. I am constantly writing my numbers and some letters backwards.

School is awesome!
Dexter has loved his first few days at school. Everything from the bus, to his teacher, to walking in the big hallways, school library and eating in the cafeteria is awesome! His love of super heroes and police men has also crossed over to safety patrols. He really likes how helpful and nice the 5th graders has been to him getting to the correct class on the 1st day and getting on the buses.
Dexter is all signed up for speech therapy classes again after a one year break and will start back up next week meeting once a week with a speech pathologist. He has a rotating special class between Music, Art, PE and Library. Monday was music, today was PE and he learned jumping jacks, sit-ups and push-ups! Tomorrow he will meet the Art teacher, Thursday back to PE and Friday is library.

School is starting!
Today was meet the teacher day at Glenkirk Elementary. To say I was excited was an understatement! I loved seeing everything at the big school. I went to the library, the cafeteria, the gym, the office and my classroom.
I got a school t-shirt, set up my desk and turned in all the classroom supplies we had to buy. One kid from Montessori school is in my class and one kid from my neighborhood is in my class - so I already know 2 of the 24 kids!

Summer school is over!
Friday we had a party at Bull Run Regional Park - they have an awesome pool and playground area. All my friends from school were there, including my best friends - Edward, Miles and Lily. I love my Montessori school so much - I am glad I still get to go there after school for a few hours so I can see my friends and teachers. We are all huddled together here because a giant bucket of water is about to fall on us!
Today, Daddy and I went to Lowe's to build Thor's Chariot. I did a great job following the directions, hammering the nails and putting on the stickers :)

School shopping!
Very excited here to have our first back to school shopping trip! We got a list from school of all the things we needed to bring to 1st grade and got everything and then some! We actually doubled the order and the extras are going to a school supply fundraiser at Dan's work.

Fun with Nana!
This past week Nana came to stay with me. We had so much fun going to swim camp every day, building Legos and having my end of school party at school! She got to see my Kindergarten graduation - which featured a musical "Jack and the Beanstalk", a piano recital, a yoga session, an art display and a Spanish lesson. I had so much fun with my Nana, I think this summer will be a blast and I can't wait to start at the big school for 1st Grade.

International Day!
Every year my school, Montessori of Gainesville, has an International Day celebration. All the classes present songs, dances and facts about their country. My class had South Korea.

| My teachers - Ms. Freda, Ms. Kyou-Bin and Ms. Shala |
South Korea is in Asia. The national flower of South Korea is the Rose of Sharon. The national sport of South Korea is Taekwondo. The flag of South Korea is white with a red and blue circle in the middle and a black trigam in each corner. The flag represents peace, balance and harmony.
