Tiger Scout to Wolf Scout

Yesterday Dexter transitioned from a Tiger Scout (1st grader) to a Wolf Scout (2nd grader).  Cub scout has been good at times and boring at times depending on the activity so we are still deciding if we will continue next year or not.  When it was outdoors and scout stuff it was great. 

Pinewood Derby

Last week the Cub Scouts had their annual Pinewood Derby car race.  Each kid was given a block of wood and 4 wheels and then they had to make a car at home and bring it to school for a race.  Each kid got to race 3 times and then they took their average finish to determine the winners of each den (grade levels) and winners for the whole pack.   Dexter was not one of the big winners but he did win 2 of his 3 races and he had run doing it!

Stone Bridge Hike

Today the Tiger Den (1st graders) of Dexter's cub scout troop did a hike in the Bull Run National Forest.  We hiked along the Stone Bridge trail and it was a great hour long hike.  The boys searched for items in nature and we all enjoyed the outdoors.

Cub scouts!

So far I am really enjoying the cub scouts.  I get to play outside and I get to do something fun with Daddy (occasionally Mommy if Daddy is out of town).   This past weekend we had a campfire meeting and this coming Sunday we have a hike.  We meet 2-3 times a month and do fun things outside or in a classroom at school. 

p.s. If you like popcorn expect to get some for Christmas because the boy scouts have to sell fancy popcorn to raise money. 

Cub Scouts

Daddy and I have joined the cub scouts.  I am in the Tiger Den and so far I love it.  The den meetings are fun and the camping trip was tons of fun as well.  I went for a hike, learned how to tie some knots and played for hours with my new friends.  Everyone in the cub scouts goes to Glenkirk Elementary so now I know kids in all the grade levels.

We have another hike this Sunday if the weather is good.  Can't wait!
